Continuing Education For The Maritime Professional
PDH (Professional Development Hours)
SNAME events such as the Annual Meeting offer opportunities to earn PDH (Professional Development Hours). A majority of the technical sessions from the Society’s Annual Meeting carry continuing education credit, enabling a Professional Engineer to earn as many as nine PDHs (0.9 CEUs) by attending these sessions. PEs who take advantage of these opportunities and want the credit that they earn to be certified and recorded will be required to submit a one-page application form for each classroom course or accredited session, accompanied by payment of a service fee calculated on a sliding scale with a maximum payment per course or session of $20 for members ($30 for non-members).
Graduate Level Online Courses
The following is a list of graduate level engineering courses available to take online for credit. In addition to counting towards a graduate degree, these also count as professional development hours for PE renewal in most states.

Free Online Courses
In addition to courses for credit, universities are starting to offer free online course material. MIT is currently leading the effort. This is a great way to learn about topics of professional interest for free. They will not count towards PE renewal.
Professional Engineering Review Course (PERC)
In an effort to support those naval architects, marine and ocean engineers who are preparing to take the Professional Engineer Principles and Practice Examination in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, the Society has developed this Distance Learning course that provides a review of the 4 Subject Areas with 21 sub-groups included in the NAME Examination Specification.
