HS-04 Design Procedure and Philosophy

The recently reconstituted panel, HS-4 Design Philosophy & Procedures, of the Hull Structure Committee is embarking on a new project, the focus of which is the development of structural design guidance. The guidance addresses aspects of structural design normally not covered in textbooks and includes a discussion of fundamental structural concepts useful for designers and also specific guidance when designing various structural details, elements and assemblies. This will be supported with illustrations of good and bad structural design practice, case studies of failures and lessons learned, etc.
