SNAME Publishes New T&R

SNAME has published: THE TECHNICAL AND RESEARCH BULLETIN, "A Guide to Materials Engineering" for the Maritime Industry.

This T&R bulletin was written by Yvonne Traynham and approved by SNAME Technical & Research Committee on Hull Structure Chaired by Roger Basu.

The 14th Propeller & Shafting Symposium is being planned by Panel M-16 (Propulsion Shaft Systems) of SNAME's Technical and Research Program.

This symposium will address the overall propulsion transmission system of gearing, shafting, couplings, bearings, seals, and propellers.


SNAME is pleased to announce it’s membership magazine (mt) has been awarded three prestigious awards for editorial and design excellence.

Two awards were issued by APEX 2015, the twenty-seventh annual awards program recognizing excellence in publishing by professional communicators. The January 2014
issue on the Mediterranean Region’s Maritime Activities was awarded an “Award of Excellence” in the category of Magazines, Journals & Tabloids - Print - +32 pages and the article “Under Repair” also in the January 2014 issue has received an award for excellence in Design & Illustration – Photography, for the designers of (mt) magazine, the Bates Creative Group.

In addition, (mt) received an Excel Award, the largest and most prestigious award that exclusively recognizes excellence and leadership in nonprofit association media, publishing, marketing, and communications, for “Single Topic Issue: 10,000 or fewer, for the July 2014 issue entitled “The Design Approach.”
