Panel O-44, Marine Safety and Environmental Protection, was formed in 1994 under the STOC banner from the former panel, Maritime Safety, of the same designation. The new O-44 was established to address issues relating to the safe carriage of passengers and cargo, and environmental protection of our world's waterways. This Panel is well placed to assess the impact of evolving technology on the marine transportation system. Panel O-44 makes extensive use of working groups, or sub-Panels, to focus on specialized problems of interest to the Panel's members.

Following on the success of the first ad hoc panel structure, O-44 utilizes the world wide web and telecommunications advances, to effectively use the valuable time of its members. For more detailed information on O-44, we invite you to follow the appropriate links provided.
