Roster Download Help

Community Admins can download section, committee and panel rosters from SNAME.org into an Excel spreadsheet. These rosters are based on SNAME database records.

WHO: Community Admins are the webmasters of an online community, but members who do not need webmaster rights can be made admins as well. Chairs determine those with admin rights. To be listed as an admin, have your chair send an email to meichler@sname.org with a request.

HOW: Take the following steps.

1)  Login to www.sname.org

2)  Click on “Profile” or “MySNAME” links to the top right of any SNAME.org page

3)  Under your profile picture look for the header “Groups”. Below this is a list of the online communities to which you belong. Click on the name of the group whose roster you would like to download. This brings you to the Group Details page.

4)  On the group details page you will see the listings of members of the community in alphabetical order. Directly above the first listing is a link with the number of members of the community – like “101 Members”. Click this link. This brings you to a “Search Results” page.

5)  Directly under the “Search Results” header is an “Export Data” link. Click this link to download your roster’s raw data. Open the “ContactDetails” file of type .txt on your desktop.

6) On the Edit tab of the ContactDetails file select “Select All” then “copy”

7) Open a blank Excel worksheet and click on a cell to the top-left. Then click “paste” This will create an Excel spreadsheet of your member roster data. Notice the numerous data fields in the columns extending far to the right. Many of these fields will not be of value to you.

NOTE: Section eGroups are the preferred method to contact all members via email. eGroup messages go to Section members in real time by default. Please rely on eGroups for routine section communications.

CAUTION: Member data is safeguarded by SNAME. Do not distribute member data to anyone outside your Section/Committee/Panel and only provide it to those with approved business to conduct. Improper distributions of member data threaten the confidentiality of SNAME Members and are, potentially, grounds for legal action.

CONTACT: Please contact SNAME Communications & Web Strategist Mark Eichler at meichler@sname.org or by phone at 201.499.5069 for any assistance. Please call should you require immediate assistance.
