Marine Power Systems and Propulsion Faculty Position
Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Applicants are invited to apply for a tenure-track position in the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Naval architecture and marine engineering teaching began at Michigan in 1881; the department was formally established in 1903. The department is a world leader in education and research in engineering for the marine environment. The applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in naval architecture; marine, ocean or offshore engineering; mechanical engineering; electrical engineering; or related engineering or science discipline. The applicants should be able to teach undergraduate and graduate marine power system courses, develop and lead a strong externally funded research program, and supervise Ph.D. education in some of the following areas:
An appointment at the assistant or associate professor level is anticipated depending upon experience and qualifications of the successful applicant. Appointment at the professor level is possible for a more senior person of international reputation and stature. The position starting date is expected to be September 1, 2003.
