Ad Hoc Committee on Maritime Security

SNAME established the Ad Hoc Committee on Maritime Security earlier this year to be a clearinghouse of information on Maritime Security activities and to help coordinate the Society's support for industry and government objectives in addressing security challenges.

Mission Statement - The mission of the Ad Hoc Committee on Maritime Security is to act as a clearing house for information related to the security of all types and sizes of ships, offshore structures, shipyards, ports and other maritime structures and installations.

In its pursuit of this mission, the Ad Hoc Committee on Maritime Security will:
1. Monitor the activities of government, industry, and academia relating to maritime security.
2. Advise the Public Policy Committee and the Executive Committee on significant developments in the field of maritime security, in order that they can make informed decisions about the Societyıs involvement in maritime security activities and the direction of the Societyıs programs relating to maritime security.
3. Disseminate information concerning maritime security to the Societyıs membership, utilizing the Societyıs web site, publications, meetings and committees, in order that the Societyıs members can have both a single, reliable, source for information related to maritime security and a center to which they can submit their own suggestions and ideas related to maritime security.

The Ad Hoc Committee is soliciting membership with a view towards establishing an active and productive committee with close ties to industry and government groups who are addressing Maritime Security issues. Anyone interested in joining the Ad Hoc Committee should contact Roger Butturini, Chair, via e-mail or telephone: 540-253-9832.
