To date, 34 of the papers that will be presented at SMTC&E and SPS have been evaluated and and accredited for continuing education credit, at 1 PDH each, as indicated in the technical program schedule on the SNAME web site at: www.sname.org/AM2005/technical_program.cgi. Evaluation of the remaining papers and presentations, including the Ship Production Symposium sessions, is in progress, and it is expected that the majority will receive accreditation. A PE attending the SMTC will therefore be able to earn as many as eleven PDHs by attending technical sessions.

Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Survey of Professional Activities and Knowledge

We are asking all SNAME Members to participate in a survey of professional Activities and Knowledge for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME). The survey should take roughly 30 minutes to complete, and does not need to be completed in one sitting. Although the primary purpose of the survey is to update the specification for the US Professional Engineering (PE) Exam in NAME, we are reaching out to all SNAME members to help define our industry, which is truly global in scope.
Click here for more information and link to survey.

The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), applying to ships and port facilities was developed by IMO, post 9/11. It has been in force just over one year. At this Conference, the ISPS Code will be reviewed and assessed from differing view-points. Some questions must be answered such as; is the Code a benefit or a burden? Should it be amended? What is its impact on shipping, ports and the flow of sea-borne trade?
