SNAME Member Value Survey is Underway
You should have recently
received a hyperlink to the 2006 SNAME web-based member values survey. If you have
not yet taken the time (approximately 20 minutes) to fill it in,
please remember to go back to that email and do so. Our future service to you
and the maritime industry depends on your feedback.
Thank you to all who have submitted their comments and opinions via this survey.
As of early this week over 1,300 members have responded!
We are obtaining some great information that we’ll be analyzing
and acting on over the coming months. A summary of the results will be shared
with all.
Also remember, SNAME will
have a random drawing to award one year of free membership to three lucky respondents.
The winners will be announced in the next edition of SNAMeNewsLetter.
We will additionally provide $250 for the local Section that encourages the
largest percentage of its membership to participate.
Sincerely,
Dr. Roger Compton

of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers

Alert! - Issue # 11 The International Maritime Human Element Forum
Integrating
the human element
There is no
shortage of discussion about the human element and its contribution to the efficient
and safe operation of ships. But the ship is a complex system into which those
who will operate her will be integrated, not merely adapting themselves to the
design. Seafarers should not “just fit in where they can” around
the operational demands of the ship. Click
here to read more. Within the T&R Program, SNAME maintains Panel O-38, Human Factors, which is actively engaged in these issues.
