Report Released by US Congress Committee on
Transportation and Infrastructure
The US Congress House
of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure released
a report regarding transportation issues for fiscal year 2004. Click
here for the report. On the maritime side, the committee estimates that $2.4
billion is needed each year to improve US ports to keep pace with increased demand.
The committee opposes expanding uses of the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund and
the Inland Waterways Trust Funds. The committee proposes that annual funding for
the Coast Guard Integrated Deepwater System be $578 million, rather than the $500
million put forward by the President's budget, and supports a significant increase
in funding for the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Message
from Web Site Manager
Help
Us ! - when sending an e-mail message to SNAME HQ, please
be as descriptive as possible in your "Subject" line. Believe
it or not, SNAME HQ receives a great deal of "junk mail" and
messages carrying viruses. When we see a "Subject" line that
says - "Important" or "Hi there", it is usually deleted
in order to avoid any problems with our computers.
As
you can see, precise wording in the "Subject" line guarantees
that your message will be read! In addition, having a clear "Subject"
line ensures that your message is forwarded to the appropriate department
or individual in a timely fashion.
Thank you,
Connie
