At the 2010 SNAME Annual Meeting & Expo President’s Luncheon, the Society awarded Dr. Robert Randall of Texas A&M, College Station the first Faculty Advisor of the Year Award; last year, in November 2011, the award was presented to Dr. Richard Boutwell of the Newport News Apprentice School. As the recipient of the award, these Faculty Advisors were able to select an undergraduate student from their associated universities/schools to receive a $5,000 scholarship. Our thanks to Bruce and Dorothy Johnson, whose generous contribution to our scholarship program will fund this scholarship in perpetuity.
On behalf of SNAME, each year, the SSC solicits Faculty Award nominations from all Student Sections. The attached documents describe the nomination process and necessary forms. Each Student Section Chair, with the assistance of his/her officers, shall complete the enclosed “Student Section Nomination Form” for their nominees (no more than three nominations per Student Section) and submit it to the Student Steering Committee. Student Sections are at liberty to use their own initiative on how best to obtain input and scoring for the nomination and the level of supplementary documentation.
