Petros Lalangas is a Naval Architect, BSc, MSc, Fellow & Member of SNAME since 1959. Member of Technical Chamber of Greece ( TEE ) since 1974.
- 1960-64 research engineer in ship hydrodynamics at the Davidson Laboratory of Stevens Institute;
- 1964 – 1973 and 1985-1991 project manager on ship designs of commercial and naval vessels at M. Rosenblatt & Son and John J. McMullen Associates in New York, and specialist in resistance, propulsion and seakeeping studies;
- 1973-1985 Head of Design Office, Newbuildings Manager & Member of the Board of Directors at Hellenic Shipyards, Skaramanga, when the shipyard was a private company with 6000+ people;
- 1991-1994 Professor of Naval Architecture at Webb Institute of Naval Architecture in Long Island, New York;
- From 1994-1996 Technical Manager & Consultant at Eastern Technical Enterprises, Brooklyn Navy Yard;
- From 1997- Present senior advisor Naval Architect at ELKCO Marine Consultants, Piraeus;
- 2008 - present SNAME European Regional Office manager in Piraeus;
- Established in 2002 with two other persons the Greek Section and was its first Chairman 2002-04 and 2008 –Present and Vice Chairman 2004-2008;
- SNAME International Regional VP 2004-2008; Member of SNAME’s International Activities Committee 2004 to present;
- Wrote a number of theoretical & experimental technical research papers on seakeeping, design and construction of high speed craft, etc
