Great Lakes/ Great Rivers Winter Meeting

The Great Lakes/ Great Rivers Section will, once again, be focusing on natural gas in a two-day format with presentations and speakers that address specific issues such as availability, transportation, how natural gas is cleaned and processed as it flows out of the wells, the pipeline structure in the Great Lakes region, liquefaction (large scale and “micro” or small scale for bunkering operations) and similar topics.

Ottawa Marine Technical Symposium

SNAME Eastern Canadian Section and CIMarE Ottawa Branch are very excited to present the Ottawa Marine Technical Symposium (OMTS). Following a successful 2012 Mari-Tech national conference last April, the OMTS is a unique technical event that will present its inaugural industry showcase. This two-day event will feature 18 technical papers and four keynote addresses from some of Canada's most well regarded industry leaders. This conference is designed to meet the needs and interests of a wide audience which includes both Government departments and private sector organizations with an interest in the marine sector.

21st Chesapeake Sailing Yacht Symposium
The Chesapeake Sailing Yacht Symposium is the world's longest running technical forum dedicated to advancing the study of the art and science of sailing yacht design and technology.  Professional yacht designers and a wide variety of sailing enthusiasts travel from around the world to attend the CSYS Symposia to present papers and exchange ideas on sailing. 

New for 2013 include the following: The Symposium will be shortened from two full days of papers to a half day on Friday after lunch and a full day on Saturday.  In addition, the CSYS will now be a feeder for selected papers to be published in the Journal of Sailing Technology.

The Great Lakes/ Great Rivers Section's Winter meeting will be an "All LNG" symposium/conference that will address the use of LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) as a potential fuel for the marine waterways in the Great Lakes Basin.  The two-day conference will begin shortly after the conclusion of the Great Lakes Waterways Conference.

Life Cycle Cost Forum

The SNAME Southwest Section is hosting a day of presentations and a panel session focusing on a timely topic.  The goal of the day will be to share ideas, problems, and solutions for various parties in the marine industry.  Discussion will be centered around cost savings and how they apply to the many stages of a vessel's life.  Representatives from the industry will discuss aspects in the design and specification, build, operation, and maintenance phases and what is being done and what more can accomplished to save money.

Classic Yacht Symposium

The Classic Yacht Symposium is held biennially by the Herreshoff Marine Museum/ America's Cup Hall of Fame.  The 2012 program celebrates the centennial of two significant developments in yachting history: the development of the big racing schooners and the design on the Herreshoff's iconic ALERION.  The program brings together as many as 200 owners, builders, designers, enthusiasts and technical specialists for a presentation of papers and panel discussions.

World Maritime Technology Conference 2012

The Prestigious World Maritime Technology Conference (WMTC) provides a valuable global forum for experts from many of the different disciplines that make up the maritime industry to share their progress and achievements with their peers in the maritime field.

The 4th WMTC event will take place in St Petersburg and will be hosted by NTOS (Science & Technology Society of Shipbuilders of the Russian Federation).
