Section Chair- John Natterer
John Natterer, Newport News Shipbuilding Engineering Manager directs the team of NNS engineers collaborating with Gamesa U.S. in their Offshore Wind Technology Center located in Chesapeake, VA. The NNS team collaborates in the overall design effort with specific responsibility for the Balance of Plant including the wind turbine generator foundation, submarine export cable, land fall design, and associated studies supporting these designs.
John joined Newport News in 1988 in the nuclear overhaul engineering department and has held various technical engineering and management positions in new construction and overhaul aircraft carriers, commercial shipbuilding, and most recently served as Deputy Design Manager on the next aircraft carrier the USS John F. Kennedy (CVN79).
Mr. Natterer earned a B.S. degree in Marine Engineering Systems from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a MBA from The College of William and Mary.
Mr. Natterer previously served as Vice Chairman and as Secretary-Treasurer for the Hampton Roads Chapter of SNAME since 2009.
Immediate Past Chairman - Gary Fuller
Gary Fuller is the construction director for nuclear and propulsion on the USS Theodore Roosevelt at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding. Gary began his career at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in 1982 as an apprentice welder and graduated from the Apprentice School and Industrial Management Program. Gary has worked in Nuclear Quality as a Mechanical Inspector, Reactor Services Project as a Shift Fueling Engineer, and Nuclear Engineering Test as a Mechanical Test Engineer up to and including Chief Test Engineer. He has spent the past five years in Carrier Overhaul as a Nuclear Construction Superintendent and Overhaul Control Engineer prior to his promotion to Director. Gary received his B.S in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Old Dominion University in 2008. He and his wife Mary and daughter Meredith live in Newport News, VA.
Vice Chairman - Alan Bomar
Alan is a Propulsion Plant Construction Superintendent for the CVN 72 RCOH. He began his career at Newport News Shipbuilding as a Nuclear Mechanical Test Engineer working the USS Eisenhower FY85 COH (Carrier Overhaul). Mr. Bomar worked as an Assistant Chief Refueling Engineer (ACRE) during the third refueling of the USS Enterprise and was an engineering operations lead during the conversion of the Surface Ship Support Barge for use on Nimitz Class Refueling and Overhauls. He worked all Nimitz class RCOHs; first as an ACRE and a Construction Supervisor on USS Nimitz, a Propulsion Plant Construction Supervisor on USS Eisenhower, a Propulsion Plant Superintendent on USS Carl Vinson, a Planning Superintendent on USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Abraham Lincoln. In 2009 he was assigned to work with Realization Technologies to implement a Theory of Constraints solution for the CVN 71 RCOH. Since 2009 Mr. Bomar has been working to understand the Theory of Constraints and Critical Chain Project management to formulate a solution to improve RCOH project management.
Outside of work, he is an Active Sailboat Race, Chief handicapper for Performance Handicap Racing fleet on the Southern Chesapeake Bay. Mr. Bomar enjoys kayaking and all forms of water sports. Lastly he is a want-a-be naval architect longing to design sailboats.
Mr. Bomar graduated Georgia Institute of Technology with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Julie has been a SNAME member since 2005. She began as a member of The Apprentice School student section. She has served many positions in SNAME including student section chair, vice chair for the SSC, membership chair, and her current positions. Professionally she works at Newport News Shipyard as a project manager. She is a 2008 graduate of the Newport News Shipyard Apprentice School.

Bonnie Wojcik is a Project Manager at Newport News Shipbuilding working on the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) Project team and has over 9 years of Aircraft Carrier Maintenance experience. Bonnie has been a member of SNAME since 2011, most recently holding the position of House Chair. She has a Management Information Systems (MIS) degree from Wingate University and a MBA from Averett University. Additionally, she is a Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is a member of the Newport News Shipbuilding LEARN Marketing Committee. She holds an ROI certification from the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) Facilitation.

John Edwards is a Shift Test Engineer at Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipyard. He is currently working the USS Roosevelt Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH). Prior to working aboard the Roosevelt, John was part of the USS Carl Vinson RCOH and the USS George H.W. Bush new construction teams. John is a licensed Third Assistant Engineer and is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy with a B.S. in Marine Engineering and Systems Design.

- Suzanne Beckstoffer
Suzanne has been employed by Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding - Newport News since 1982. She is currently Director, Technology Development. A graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Suzanne also earned her MBA from The College of William and Mary. She is the SNAME Vice-President, Membership, as well as a member of the Hampton Roads Section Executive Committee. She has served previously as Regional Vice-President, Atlantic South; Hampton Roads Section Chair; Membership Committee Chair; and is a member of the Planning, Nominations, and International Activities Committees.
