“Virginia Tech Student Design Presentations”
It’s April again, and a new crop of naval architects are getting ready to join the ranks. These young engineers have worked four (or more) long years to learn all they can about ship design. For their undergraduate finale, they have been putting that knowledge into practice – hammering out a concept ship design as a team during a two-semester ship design course at Virginia Tech. Once again, these students will be showcasing their efforts for the Hampton Roads Section. Come to see the innovative ships they have designed!
Students from three design teams will be presenting. Two teams will describe the concept exploration and development of a Agile Surface Combatant Monohull. A third team will present the concept exploration and development of an Offshore Intervention Ship (VIPER).
Please join us in welcoming these soon-to-be naval architects to the marine industry and to Hampton Roads. Come ready to ask questions and provide valuable feedback to help prepare them for their official “NAVSEA design review” later this month.
