ME Cadet 2nd Class Piotr Orzechowski founded the Cal Maritime SNAME Student Section in May of 2010 in order to provide the Academy’s engineering Cadets access to naval architecture/marine engineering professionals and firms. This is Piotr’s second term as Chair of CMA-SNAME and he is actively engaged in expanding the SNAME Student Section at the Academy. He continually works on arranging fieldtrips to marine engineering companies and maritime policy seminars.

Piotr also serves as a contributing author on the Student Section Standards Committee and as a student representative on the ASNE/SNAME Joint Education Committee.

Cadet 2nd Class Daniel J. Posey is a long time Vallejo resident who transferred to CMA after receiving two AA degrees at Napa Valley College. He is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as a 3rd Assistant Ship Engineer License. Currently, he is employed by the SFPUC as a Student Design Trainee in their Waste Water Enterprise-Engineering Department. After college he plans to travel before focusing on his career.

Cadet 1st Class Michael Diddams is a license track Mechanical Engineering Major who envisions himself both going to sea in the US Merchant Marine and practicing engineering in the marine industry ashore. He is especially interested in renewable energy and engineering materials.

His duties as student section secretary include designing and maintaining the CMA-SNAME microsite and section communications. He assumed office in Spring of 2011 and will graduate in April 2012.
