2006 SNAME Maritime Technology Conference & Expo
and Ship Production Symposium
October 10-13, 2006

Letter from the President of SNAME

I am pleased to announce that the 2006 SMTC&E and SPS will take place in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, this fall. Once again, the Conference will be held in conjunction with the Annual Ship Production Symposium - a winning partnership. You will not want to miss the renowned technical program, which will feature tracks on small craft, design, production, operations, and an ever-expanding student program. In addition, the popular President’s Reception, Student Design Competition, Expo, Annual Banquet and other networking events will provide opportunities for you to expand your professional horizons as you meet with top industry professionals.

The technical program is considered to be one of the best, most relevant, professionally respected, and content-packed programs available. Presentations on new and cutting-edge ship production, design, operations, as well as state-of-the-art product and system technologies will provide opportunities for professional development and will expand your knowledge base. The Expo will gather the best maritime products and technologies in one location for information exchange, sales and networking. The success of the Innovation Sessions, which were begun last year at the Expo in Houston, encouraged us to continue this effective program in Ft. Lauderdale.

With an average daily temperature of 77 degrees in the winter and 89 degrees in the summer, South Florida is a sports enthusiast’s paradise. Outdoor activities are endless with more than 60 golf courses, hundreds of parks, miles of coral reefs and of course the ever-present Florida sunshine. Ft. Lauderdale is known as the “Venice of America.” -
Boating, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing and cruising are just some of the ways to spend your free time in the area (of course, such attractions are for before or after SMTC&E/SPS’06).

I look forward to welcoming you to the SMTC&E and SPS. Plan to join us October 10-13, 2006 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for what promises to be an exciting conference, and a great chance to make and renew professionally-based friendships.

Sincerely,

Dr. Roger H. Compton
