Begin your SMTC&E experience with the President's Reception; it will set the scene for an enjoyable, productive conference. KEYNOTE ADDRESS

Don't miss the Keynote Address, given by Michael W. Toner, Executive Vice President, Marine Systems Group, General Dynamics. Be there to hear his opinions on the state of the maritime industry, and the future of the maritime industry.

AWARD PRESENTATIONS

Immediately following the Keynote Address, important Society awards will be presented: The American Bureau of Shipping-Captain Joseph H. Linnard Prize, which honors the best paper contributed to the Conference, the Vice Admiral E.L. Cochrane Award, honoring the best paper published in Marine Technology, and Technical and Research Certificates of Recognition will be presented for outstanding service in the Society’s Technical and Research Program.

BUSINESS SESSION and PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS

SNAME President Bruce S. Rosenblatt will address the membership during this event. All members are encouraged to attend the Business Session. The agenda will include adoption of proposed amendments to the Bylaws and other items of Society business. Attend and participate - have a voice in SNAME's future.

ANNUAL BANQUET

Join attendees of the SMTC&E and SPS and celebrate the closing of another successful conference. The Banquet features the presentation of the Society's most prestigious awards: The David W. Taylor Medal, awarded for "Notable Achievement in Naval Architecture and/or Marine Engineering," the Vice Admiral "Jerry" Land Medal, for "Outstanding Accomplishment in the Marine Field," and the Davidson Medal, for "Outstanding Scientific Accomplishment in Ship Research".

For the first time, the William M. Kennedy Award for “Outstanding Service and Contribution in the Development of Systems and Planning Applying to Shipbuilding and Ship Repair,” and the Elmer L. Hann Award for “the best paper on ship production delivered at the Ship Production Symposium” will be presented at the Banquet.

Our Banquet Speaker, Mr. Stephen Payne, is Chief Naval Architect and head of Project Management for the design of Cunard's newest passenger liner, The Queen Mary 2. This is the world's largest passenger liner at 151,000 gross tons, built for the transatlantic liner trade. Hear some of Mr. Payne's interesting stories and anecdotes about the project.
