Class Rules

   1. All parts of the vessel’s hull, foils, and cross members (for multi hulls) must be made from no more than 5 sheets of 4’ x 8’ x ¼” thick plywood. Minimum unit weight for plywood is 0.5 lbs/ per square foot.

2. Other materials may be used for joining hull parts and stiffening. These materials are limited to: 
    a. Maximum section 1.5”x1.5” lumber for connections or stiffeners. 
    b. Maximum 4” fiberglass tape and polyester resin for panel connections. 
    c. Hulls or other items may be sheathed in polyester resin impregnated 10 oz.
        maximum bi-directional fiberglass cloth with or without ½ oz. mat.
 
3. Other materials may be used for the vessel’s sailing rig. 
    a. Up to 110 square feet (10 square meters) - Any used sailing boat/
        windsurfing gear. 
    b. Unlimited sail area - If sails and rig are made by the contestant from readily
        available nontraditional sail making materials found at a typical building 
        materials store (no Dacron, Mylar, Kevlar, carbon fiber, etc.)

4. Other materials may be used for control devices. Materials are limited to lumber, aluminum pipe, or plastic pipe.

5.  Masts and rigging may be of any materials and are not counted in the Rule's plywood limitation. If masts and/or rigs are re-purposed from other sailing craft, then the boat's sail area must conform to the sail area limitation.  Rigs may be stayed or un-stayed, single or multiple masts/sails

6. Adjustable mast steps and foil supports are encouraged to allow tuning.

7. Shift-able hiking boards, trapezes, or movable ballast are not allowed.
 
8. Drawings of the vessel in B-size format must be provided by the Challenge Deadline. The vessel drawings shall include: 
    a. Outboard profile and plan indicating shape and size of hull, foils, intended rig 
    b. Hull section(s) indicating hull construction method 
    c. Flat patterns of all hull parts nested to show compliance with rule number 1. 
    d. Additional details to show any novel features included in the design.
