    Location: Madrona, 3rd Floor

HydroComp NavCad "Best Practices" Training Course

HydroComp is conducting a one-day training course for active users of NavCad®, HydroComp's software for ship resistance and propulsion. The focus of the course will be to introduce and review "best practices" for experienced, new, and potential users of NavCad.

Nearly three years of R&D have gone into the development of NavCad 2012+, with new features focused on improving prediction reliability through data standardization, process guidance, and benchmark review. This course is the ideal venue to quickly raise the level of your professional skills, and exploit the full capability and strength of the newest version of NavCad.

What is the curriculum for the course?
    The curriculum will include:
    ·         Proper development of parametric hull data from lines, hydrostatic reports, and hull form CAD software
    ·         Relating performance prediction methodologies to physical performance models
    ·         Introduction to contemporary viscous expansion techniques
    ·         Use of the Method Expert for successful prediction method selection
    ·         Use of Aligned Prediction with model tests or sea trials
    ·         Correctly defining propeller characteristics
    ·         Overview of the corrections for hull-propulsor interaction coefficients
    ·         Using Benchmark Vessels for graphical comparison
    ·         Confirming prediction results using resistance, power, and propulsor efficiency Confidence Plots
    ·         Integration with other software, such as HydroComp PropElements® (for detail propeller design)

    About the trainer
The NavCad "Best Practices" Training Course is conducted by Donald MacPherson, HydroComp's Technical Director with support from other HydroComp staff.

Who should attend the Training Course?
This course is suitable for both new and experienced NavCad users, as well as potential users considering the acquisition of NavCad. Users that are considering an upgrade to the newest version are particularly encouraged to attend.

Do I need a NavCad license to attend?
The "Best Practices" Course will include interactive case studies using the latest version of NavCad. Participants with a current NavCad license are encouraged to bring a laptop (and security key) with NavCad installed. Otherwise, download and installation of the NavCad Demo is suitable for use in the course.
