SNAME 2012 Student
Design Competition
The 2012
Student Design Competition allows students from different schools all over the
world and of different skill sets to come together and work in teams to conquer
the tasks placed before them. Students' skill sets will be put to the test when
they are given a chance to create a vessel to fulfill the challenge given to
all teams.
Previous
years have required students to observe and carry out the basic fundamentals in
Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. These include but are not limited to
topics such as:
- Loading
- Ballasting
- Displacement changes
- Efficiency
- Unfavorable conditions
- Maneuverability
- Team Work
This year
students will work together to solve one of the year's biggest controversies in
the Marine Industry. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams as well
as bragging rights for the next year. Come out to make some new friends and
have a chance to win money at the first event of the Student Program 2012!
