The 3rd Annual SNAME Cup Sailing Regatta was held on Saturday, November 19,on the waters of Galveston Bay where participants sailed out of the Houston Yacht Club. The races were sailed in J22s.
The day’s event culminated with a dinner highlighting the local Gulf Coast cuisine at the Houston Yacht Club, along with entertainment and the trophy presentation.
All proceeds raised will go toward supporting the SNAME Scholarship Fund. $165,000 in scholarship awards to both Undergraduate and Graduate SNAME student members have been made by the Society for the 2010-2011 academic year. The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers has awarded

millions of dollars in scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students since 1933. The 2010-11 awards bring the total number of Graduate Scholarship awards to 426 and undergraduate awards to 1,062 over the history of the Society
The Scholarships Committee, currently chaired by Dr. Walter M. Maclean, P.E., has continued to give the selection process the dedicated care that has characterized their work through the years. SNAME offers a number of different scholarships with varying selection criteria to undergraduate and graduate students of naval architecture and marine engineering. Students are encouraged to review the selection criteria and apply for consideration for one of these scholarships.
