Networking
The Annual Meeting features many networking opportunities both at the Hyatt Regency Houston and elsewhere. Networking opportunities include programs during the Annual Meeting, such as the President’s Reception, Annual Banquet and the President’s Luncheon, along with off-site events – the Annual Golf Tournament on Tuesday, November 15 and the 3rd Annual SNAME Cup Sailing Regatta on Saturday, November 19.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15
Annual Golf Tournament
Wildcat Golf Course, Houston, TX
The 2011 SNAME Golf Tournament will be held at the Wildcat Golf Course located in Houston. Considered to be “like no other golf experience in the Southeast Texas area,” the preferred golf club of Houston's professional sports teams, Wildcat consists of two spectacular golf courses – designed by Roy Case –located just south of Houston

President's Reception

Join President Ed Comstock and Executive Director Erik Seither as they both formally welcome members and attendees to the 2011 Annual Meeting. Peruse the Expo and network with colleagues, friends and meet the exhibitors while enjoying an array of various food stations and cash bars set-up throughout the Expo Hall. The event is included for attendees who have registered as Full Registration (Member, Under 32/Over 65 and Non Member), Authors and Students. Other attendees (One Day Registration (Thursday and Friday) and Spouse/Guest/Companion) are encouraged to purchase a ticket for $70 at online registration. All receive a single complementary drink ticket.

The SNAME Annual Banquet, held this year on Thursday, November 17, is always a highlight of the Annual Meeting. Preceded by a hearty and well-attended reception, the banquet is the cornerstone of Annual Meeting activities. Good food, fine wine, and the fellowship of SNAME members from around the world combine to make the banquet a cant-miss event. Beyond the meal, the Banquet is where SNAME presents its highest award and honors, including SNAME medals to such as the David W. Taylor Medal, the Vice Admiral "Jerry" Land Medal, the Blakely Smith Medal and the Webb Medal. The Banquet will conclude with the remarks by the distinguished Banquet Keynote Speaker, Stephen M. Carmel, Senior Vice President Maritime Services at Maersk Line, Limited (MLL).
Attendees are also invited to the Pre-Banquet and Post-Banquet Receptions held in the Imperial West and Foyer, where guests can mingle pre and post Banquet. There is no charge to attend.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18
President's Luncheon
12:30pm to 2:30pm – Imperial East and Center, 3rd Floor
Not included in Registration. Separate ticket for all attendees. The Society would like to better serve members attending the Annual Meeting by making sure that we have sufficient capacity to accommodate all those wishing to attend the President's Luncheon; therefore, we have instituted a separate registration ticket price for that event so that we may have a more accurate headcount for future planning purposes.

- $45: One Day Registration (Thursday) and Spouse/Guest/Companion
Friday's Luncheon includes Lunch and the presentation of the 2011 William M. Kennedy Award for outstanding service and contribution in the development of systems and planning applying to shipbuilding and repair;and the 2011 Elmer L. Hann Award for the best paper presented at the Ship Production Symposium, November 3-5, 2010. Lunch is followed by the Business Session of the Society. The President's Luncheon has traditionally concluded the formal conference of the Annual Meeting and includes Award Presentations.
Footy Yacht Regatta Design and Competition

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19
3rd Annual SNAME Cup Sailing Regatta
Houston Yacht Club, Houston, TX
The 3rd Annual SNAME Cup Sailing Regatta will be held on the waters of Galveston Bay where participants will sail out of the Houston Yacht Club. The races will be sailed in J22s and with a target of up to 5 races. There is a small fee to participate as individuals or on regatta teams, along with various sponsorship opportunities. The day’s event will culminate with a dinner highlighting the local Gulf Coast cuisine at the Houston Yacht Club, along with entertainment and the trophy presentation.
All proceeds raised at the Golf Tournament and the Sailing Regatta will go toward supporting the SNAME Scholarship Fund. Over $180,000 in scholarship awards to both Undergraduate and Graduate SNAME student members will be made by the Society for the 2011-2012 academic year. The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers has awarded millions of dollars in scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students since 1933.
