With an increasing focus by many governments around the world on clean energy, the use of LNG to be an alternative fuel for power generation is proven to be popular. This presentation will go through some key technical aspects that should be considered in the initial phase of LNG to Power project, followed by one example solution.
Based on our solution, while enjoying the benefit of using LNG for power generation, this concept will provide maximum flexibility to a project in terms of schedule, capital expenditure and the possibility of additional on demand technical features. It is suitable to be used as either a bridging or a long term solution for electricity supply. In particular for countries with urgent requirement, small demand, difficulties to raise significant capital for infrastructure project, limited space and / or environmental concern for large scale land- based projects.
The proposed concept will be provided by KARMOL, a joint venture of MOL and KARPOWERSHIP. MOL owns and operates more than 90 LNG vessels, 4 FSRUs including the largest FSRU in the world. KARPOWERSHIP, who owns and operates more than 20 powerships with an installed capacity over 3.1 GWs.
