SSC Student Spotlight

Benjamin Nagel:

A student majoring in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ben Nagle is currently preparing for graduation this May.
Ben has spent the past two summers interning
with well known employers in the Naval Architecture field.  In 2012, Ben interned with the American Bureau of Shipping's Offshore Technology department and in 2013 he worked as an intern for Vard Marine.  He considers both of these internships very influential in the professional and engineering he is today.

At U of M, Ben have been on the Concrete Canoe Team for 4 years and currently hold the position of captain.  He is also a part of a research team working out the University's Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratory working on investigating the development of the inner boundary layer and the effects of roughness on its development.

After graduation in May, Ben will intern with Chevron before returning to Michigan to begin his his studies for a Master's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.

" My favorite part about Michigan's SNAME section, known as Quarterdeck, is definitely the networking opportunities that it constantly provides for the students"
