2019-2020 (FY 2020) OFFICERS

 SECTION CHAIR Harsh Shah Harsh Shah is a New Jersey-based Naval Architect/Marine Engineer currently working with Weeks Marine Inc. His expertise includes ship design, ship structures, hydrostatics, and vessel modification and conversion. He currently holds the office of Treasurer at SNAME NY Met Section and actively engaged in coordinating the society’s Young Professional activities. Originally from Mumbai, India, Harsh graduated from K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering (Mumbai University) with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. After a brief stint at Hafele India, he came to the U.S. to pursue his Master’s in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. Upon graduating from Stevens in 2015, he worked as Junior Naval Architect at Marine Design and Operations, Inc. prior to joining Weeks Marine in 2016. In his free time,  he takes keen interest in reading, traveling, photography and adventure sports.

Williams has a background both as an academic and in debt capital markets.  After an early career as a theoretical physicist, he moved to Wall Street, where he advised corporate and sovereign borrowers on debt management issues and worked as a quantitative strategist for the global fixed-income markets.  Dr. Williams returned to academics, serving on the faculty of Webb Institute for more than fourteen years where he was Professor of Science.  He has experience in start-up ventures in both the financial and marine arenas and was the CFO of a green marine development firm.  He is currently Director of Marine Technology Integration for AdapTec SA, an international technology company focused on clean energy and water.  He is an Associate Member of SNAME and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Roderick graduated from SUNY Maritime College with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, a Third Assistant Engineer License, and a Master of Science in Transportation Management.  He sailed for a few years, worked for the technical department of Ship Registries and spent most of his professional career working for a classification society.  Roderick possesses extensive experience collaborating with maritime regulatory agencies and industry trade associations at IMO on development of maritime regulations and cooperating with members of IACS on development of technical interpretations and requirements.  He is currently Senior Manager of Regulatory Compliance at Vanuatu Maritime Services, the administrator of the Republic of Vanuatu International Ship Registry.

Renee T

Renee is currently a senior at Webb Institute, studying to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.  She has been involved in the New York Metropolitan Section of SNAME since she began her college education.
