When:  Feb 18, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (ET)

Please join the Hampton Roads Section for an interesting discussion on one of the early Chief Naval Architects of Newport News Shipbuilding. Sydney Vincent was the 4th chief Naval Architect of Newport News Shipbuilding. He wrote the Transverse Stability Chapter of Original Principles of Naval Architecture and authored “Merchant Vessel Lines,” a paper on hull form design that is still widely referenced today. Prior to his association with Newport News, he served as chief naval architect for three shipyards in the Portland, Oregon area. In addition to his impressive career in shipbuilding, Mr. Vincent’s life reads like an action adventure movie complete with race cars, hot air balloons, gliders and airplane flights.
