Gulf Section - An Introduction to Marine HVAC Design

WS Nelson engineers Thomas DeHarde and Yorgos Gaitantzis will give a presentation on marine/offshore HVAC systems, including discussion on the use of the the SNAME T&R 4-7 and 4-6 HVAC design guides, which they have used in HVAC system design. The presentation will cover HVAC basics including nomenclature, design equations, the refrigeration cycle, cooling system types, and typical system equipment.

Speaker Name & Bio
Thomas DeHarde, P.E. is a New Orleans native and currently lives in Luling. He attended UNO and graduated with a BSE in Mechanical Engineering in 1978. He worked at Avondale Shipyard for over 14 years working in the HVAC department for commerical and Navy projects. In July ’93 he started in the ME Department at WS Nelson

Yorgos Gaitantzis, P.E. was born in Thessaloniki, Greece and currently lives in the LGD. He attended the University of Westminster in London, England and graduated in 1980 with a BSE in Mechanical Engineering. He earned an MBA from UF and UNF in 1990. He worked as a consulting engineer in northeast Florida for more than 20 years on a variety of commerical, institutional, health care, and industrial buildings. He relocated to New Orleans in 2011 and started working for WS Neslon in 2012.
