Processes involved in assessing performance have been gaining significant interest in the past year. This presentation will focus on the what, the how and the why of performance assessment. The aim of the presentation is to familiarize delegates with the ways in which assessment can be utilized as a tool that enables informed decision making, on both selection and development processes of crew or shore-based personnel. We will provide a description of the various assessment methods, such as psychometric and behavioral, that can be useful in identifying skills and competencies of seafarers, explaining the benefits and drawbacks of these methods.
The presentation will mostly focus on the value of assessment in strategic planning and allow room for discussion from the audience.

Mariangela Zanaki, Managing Partner at Evalion Maritime Ltd.

Mariangela Zanaki is Managing Partner at Evalion Maritime Ltd. (merging with Ceosan Consulting), helping shipping organizations transform personnel assessment and management systems in ways that promote safety and well-being. Her main areas of expertise include organizational consulting on human element performance and on assessment solutions; she has also developed a range of training programmes that she delivers in cooperation with DNVGL Maritime Academy. Mariangela's background is in psychology, cognitive neuropsychology and organizational psychology.
