Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers

The Great Lakes and Great Rivers Sections includes the States of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Kansas, Tennessee and West Virginia and that portion of the State of New York which borders the Great Lakes, and that portion of the State of Pennsylvania which borders the Great Lakes and Ohio River.

Our Events

  • Great Lakes/Great Rivers - 2019 Fall Meeting

    Oct 9 - 10, (CT)
    Section meeting including technical presentations and tours of the SS BADGER and USS COBIA. Includes ice breaker reception on Wednesday and breakfast and lunch on Thursday.

    The meeting will be held at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, WI and will include  tours of the SS Badger and USS Cobia!

    The special room rates are $89.00/night.  Be sure to mention the Great Lakes & Great Rivers Fall Meeting to receive the discounted rate!
    Cutoff date to guarantee room reservations is September 9, 2019.

    Wednesday, October 9
    6:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Reception with hosted bar and hors d'oeuvres
    Thursday, October 10
    7:30 am - 8:30 am: Continental Breakfast
    8:00 am - 8:30 am: Registration               
    8:30 am - 8:45 am: Business Meeting      
    8:45 am - 12:00 pm: Technical Presentations
    12:00 pm - 1:30 pm: Lunch                        
    (including short presentation on the historic freshwater submarines built in Manitowoc, WI during WWII)
    1:30 pm - 4:00 pm  Tours of the SS Badger and USS Cobia

    Professional Development Hours (PDHs)
    Professional Engineers may be eligible to receive Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for attendance during the technical presentations (depending on their state board's requirements). Certificates of attendance will be made available on request.
