PREFACE
This booklet updates and expands the revised manual published
in 1989. It continues to provide the formal organizational
details, as well as considerable information of the more informal
operations. The SNAME Technical and Research Organization
is one of minimum rules, minimum protocol, and minimum paperwork.
Within those rules and guidelines developed through experience
and sound ethical professional practice, the T&R organization
is capable of great flexibility in the establishment of operational
procedures to meet the specific requirements of differing
projects and diverse situations. Projects may originate throughout
the organization with panels and committees contributing suggestions
and recommendations as appropriate. Throughout this network,
communication is vital. Since rules are minimal, there will
often be new situations that arise. Participants are encouraged
to consult with the Executive Director at SNAME Headquarters
for guidance and advice as needed in new situations. It is
hoped this document will aid you in fully participating in
the T&R organization.
It is understood and agreed that nothing expressed herein
is intended or shall be construed to give any person, firm,
or corporation any right, remedy, or claim against SNAME or
any of its officers or members.
