Dear SNAME Student Members,
My name is Andrew Ko, and I am honored to follow the footsteps of Jonathan Holbert as the SNAME Student Steering Committee (SSC) chair for 2015. I look forward to working with you all to accomplish new heights for your student sections and the SSC.
So what exactly is the SNAME Student Steering Committee’s goal?
The answer: To serve YOU.
Your importance and influence as students in shaping SNAME’s direction are often underestimated and underutilized. However, I should note that many initiatives by the students have come to fruition since the SSC’s creation in 2006. This includes the well-attended Student Program at the annual SNAME Maritime Convention, the annual Student Chair Elect Seminar (SCES), and its ever-evolving events: the Student Job Fair, the Student Design Competition, and the Student and Industry Roundtable Discussion.
So let’s take the next step together.
I want to hear from you. I want to hear from you what your sections are doing. I want to hear from you what your sections need. I want to hear from you your next great ideas on what SNAME and SSC can do better. I want to hear your voices through your section representatives, chairmen, and vice-chairmen at our monthly teleconference meetings.
To make this communication and understanding open, I only ask that you stay involved with SNAME in any way possible, whether it be through participating in your section meetings, reading our monthly e-Newsletter, visiting our Microsite at SNAME.org, Liking the SSC on Facebook, or Following the SNAME HQ on Twitter. This way, you can stay on top of what SNAME is doing and give the SSC feedback on how to improve your experiences.
The SSC is here to serve you! Let your voices be heard!
