Dear Fellow Students:
It our my pleasure to invite you the 2013 SNAME Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in Bellevue, WA on November 6-8. For many of us, this is the premier event that our Student Sections plan, fund-raise, and work for and this year will not disappoint. After listening and acting on your input from the previous years, we have put together an Annual Meeting schedule with the goal of improving the Student experience.
The Student Steering Committee is organizing the Student Program, specifically tailored to SNAME Student members. It’s the perfect opportunity to network with fellow Students and industry leaders. Each year, the Student Program continues to grow and improve, and we are looking forward to this year’s exciting schedule of events. Many thanks to Seaspan Shipyards for sponsoring the Student Program.
The Annual Meeting kick starter, the Design Competition is returning this year with cash prizes, new challenges, and the famous NETSCO t-shirts. This competition has always been a social highlight and mental challenge and the additions to this year’s competition will highlight both. The Young Professional and Student Social will follow the opening event and is a great social and networking opportunity.
The rest of the Annual Meeting is full of network, job searching and learning opportunities. Each night has social events designed to get students face time with industry professionals and honor the accomplishments of our fellow SNAME members. The Student Job, Scholarship and Graduate School Fair brings companies and students together for the chance to distribute resumes and talk to company representatives. At the request of last year’s student attendees, the Student Papers Track, sponsored by Guido Perla & Associates, Inc. has been integrated into the regular Papers Track to provide more opportunities for students to watch presentations and participate in the technical program. Additional programs have also been added, including the Student Microsite Competition, sponsored by Gibbs & Cox. And thanks to the generous support of Bruce S. Rosenblatt & Associates, LLC, all Students attend the Annual Banquet for free! All of these events highlight what the SSC and SNAME strive for, giving value to you, the members.
