SNAME Texas Section Shrimp Boil 2006
The Shrimp Boil was held Sunday September 10, 2006 at the Walden Yacht Club on Lake
Conroe in Montgomery, Texas. It was a traditional once a year event, where Texas
SNAME members get together enjoy the SNAME event with their families and friends.
The year's Shrimp Boil took place in the Promenade room which is located on
the ground floor of the yacht club with a beautiful view of Lake Conroe. The event
was well attended by about 80 people including SNAME members and SNAME student members,
and their guests, i.e., individuals, wives and children. The food was excellent
and there was plenty, i.e., salad, hot and cold shrimp, corn, potatoes and chicken
fingers and desert for the kids. The weather was just perfect sunny, dry and cool.
The club was also quite nice with a swimming pool and gazebo. The prizes for the
children and a few lucky adults were also quite nice. The festivities started at
noon and went on until about 4pm. Overall it was a very enjoyable event and well
worth attending. The Texas section chairmen Donald Burris announced the upcoming
lunch seminar on October 17th entitled "Modern Diesel Engine Combustion Analysis"
and the SNAME Texas Offshore Symposium on November 7th. Donald also stated that
there was still one slot open at the offshore symposium due to a cancellation and
anybody interested should contact the paper’s chair. Other than these few business
announcements there was plenty of good food and interesting conversations among
the members and guests.
