Abstract: Reviving the
magnificence of ancient Chinese Junk, Captain Nelson Liu managed to build an
ancient Chinese Junk Replica completed with traditional craftsmanship of late
Ming and early Qing dynasty. Princess TaiPing, the name of the Chinese Junk
Replica, has crossed the Pacific Ocean to America,
and will go back to the east. This voyage will not only make a world record and
regain the confidence and honor of Chinese Junk, but also try to preserve the
Chinese ship building and sailing technique and pass the proper information of
sailing to later generation. http://www.chinesevoyage.com/ | |

Southwest Section's Annual Day at the Races On
August 8th, 2008 the Southwest Section of SNAME headed off to the Del Mar
Racetrack for their Annual Night at the Races!
To close the year out the section reserves tables in the Clubhouse
Terrace Restaurant at the Del
Mar Racetrack and members enjoy the evenings festivities along with friends and
family. It is always a great opportunity
to socialize with friends and colleagues, to enjoy drinks, snacks, and dinner
while watching the races,…and maybe even to win some money! The event was well attended and a great time was had by all. To make it even there was a free concert
following the last race of the day.
