The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) of Virginia Tech is an Ocean Engineering organization run by students and affiliated with the professional society. The goal of the organization is to provide students with a relationship to the professional world, through a series of lectures provided by various Naval Architectural related companies. Along with the lectures the organization will attend the SNAME Annual Conference in Houston as well as visit assorted shipyards this year. It is our hope that to attract Naval Architecture related companies to contribute to our organization by coming to Virginia Tech to discuss their company, describe possible job opportunities, or provide a monetary sponsorship.

Many of the SNAME students at Virginia Tech have gone on to work for the companies that came for a recruitment visit. This is a win-win situation for both the students and employers. The employers benefit from gaining access to many candidates at one time, while not having to pay for students to travel to an onsite interview. The Virginia Tech SNAME Chapter is funded solely on donations provided by companies and the professional society; therefore, we appreciate any kind of sponsorship.
