Description:The course on Ship Arrangements will present an introduction to basic ship arrangements for naval and commercial ships from feasibility to detailed design. Topics to be covered include regulatory requirements (ABS, DNV, U.S. Navy, MSC), customer requirements, and human factors considerations. Habitability standards will also be reviewed for naval and commercial ships. Ship arrangements for novel hull forms (catamaran, trimaran, SWATH, SES, planning hull, tumblehome monohull) will be addressed. The U.S. Navy’s Space Classification System will be discussed, along with a discussion of the current standard.
The presenter, H. David Kaysen, has 35 years of experience with designing surface ships, craft, and floating structures for naval, scientific, and commercial applications.
