To my colleagues in the NY Met Section;
I extend to you my cordial greetings as Webmaster of the SNAME NY Met Section microsite. My friend and current Section Secretary Jon Spiteri having made a strong start last season in developing our site, I’m eager to serve you in further enhancing its features and utility. Indeed, through Project Voyager, the microsites for all Sections, as well as the vastly upgraded www.sname.org environment, are crucial elements and value propositional components of our Fellowship, enabling access to and transmission of information among members as never before.
Eager though I am to leverage our site’s capabilities on your behalf, I’m also humbled to be allowed this privilege. Truly, I must defer to Mark Eichler, our sname.org Webmaster, who tirelessly maintains our Fellowship’s site and all Section micosites in order and is now guiding me in the nuances of our microsite’s management. Additionally, to meet my responsibilities to NY Met I require your assistance in the form of your comments, suggestions and recommended site content. This is your site and your resource, intended to serve you as well as members of other Sections throughout the Fellowship who desire to learn more of who we are and what we do in NY Met.
I therefore ask all of you in NY Met to take a few moments to explore our microsite. With the understanding that this is a work in progress, please feel free to provide me with your feedback regarding site navigability, layout, legibility and quality of information. Moreover, I request your recommendations of specific material or topics to be shown herein. Finally, and very significantly, I invite your press releases, photos and news of any developments in your professional capacity and / or that of your company that would be of interest within NY Met. Examples include new contracts, launching / refit of vessels you’ve designed, engineered, built or on which you’ve consulted or provided equipment or service, professional development courses you’ve taken or conferences you’ve attended. To the best of my ability in keeping up with professional matters, I’ll be adding some recent news items shortly – with Mark’s assistance – but I truly require your input. You can reach me at email@example.com , via Contact Us, or by sending me a message via www.sname.org.
Many kind thanks, and I look forward to being of service. See you at the next Section meeting!
