The Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering requests applications for tenure track faculty positions. Specific areas of interest include Structures and Vehicle Dynamics and Control. The department has strong interests in fields related to the analysis and design of autonomous vehicles.

Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in Aerospace Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a closely related field, and will be expected to develop a significant externally funded research program. It is expected that the positions will be filled at the assistant professor rank. Responsibilities will include teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, directing graduate students, and establishing a research program.

Virginia Tech, the land-grand university of the Commonwealth, is located in Blacksburg, adjacent to the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. The University has a total student enrollment of 25,000, with approximately 5,300 students in the College of Engineering.
