SNAME Chesapeake Section held their January 2007meeting at the United States Naval Academy's Hydromechanics Laboratory. For the second year, preliminary proposals for the seniors' capstone design projects in naval architecture and ocean engineering and a poster session for the fall research projects were featured.

Chair Paul Miller opens the meeting -- and introduces the NA-ME projects; Prof. Jennifer Waters introduces the OE Capstone projects; this is the second year that the First Class (seniors) presented their Capstone project plans to section members and guests.

The goal of this meeting is to introduce members to the student projects with the hope that they would be interested in project mentoring. The six naval architecture and eleven ocean engineering capstone projects introduced and, included a variety of topics: commercial and recreational vessels, shoreline protection projects, infrastructure rehabilitation and ocean vehicle design. All the teams that were seeking mentors found one or more. The final designs will be presented at the Naval Academy during the third week of April, 2007.
