We just returned to SNAME Headquarters after attending the 2004 SMTC&E and SPS in Washington, DC.

Shipbuilding Returns to Brooklyn

The launch of the East River Apprenticeshop's La Perla in June is documented in the September-October 2004 WOODENBOAT magazine. The boat was built by high-school students and adult volunteers.

The Northern California Section of the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers is seeking papers on cruise ships, ferries, and the environmental impacts of these vessels.

Qualified candidates should be available for interview and should have:

  • College degree, senior management experience, and demonstrated leadership skills
  • In-depth familiarity with maritime industry
  • Commitment to academic excellence and understanding of student-life issues
  • Demonstrated ability as an effective communicator and exceptional communication skills for interaction with faculty, students, alumni, trustees, community, governmental, and industry leaders
  • Ability to oversee the development of annual budgets, assist with student recruiting and admissions, and sustain community relations
  • Proficiency with development and fundraising, including experience with annual giving and capital campaigns
  • Sound understanding of requirements for maintaining efficient operation and management of a college, university, or other institution of higher learning
  • Readiness to relocate to on-campus President’s residence at Webb Institute and a willingness to travel
  • Personal and professional references available
