The
following emotional but eloquent message was forwarded to SNAME,
sent to one of our members by his son, and is included herein
as an example of the sentiments we all must share:
"Today,
I am drained but not emptied; wrecked but not destroyed. The core
of my being has been rattled by a hatred alien in its form and
intensity. Evil truly exists and it busted into my home this morning.
Whoever delivered this blow was successful in hitting their targets,
hurting our hearts and getting our attention. I don't care what
you call yourself, what you do, or where you live, if you value
good in your life then live it loud. Tell these bastards through
your daily living that those of us who stand for peace do not
back down from anyone, do not place our lives in their control,
and that we have no borders, and in that we are far stronger and
bigger than their puny plans.
Today,
I was proud to be with my family, friends and co-workers. I am
energized that we have each other. Much love to you all. - Dan"
Phil
Kimball, the Headquarters staff and I extend our sympathies and
prayers to the families, friends and associates of the many people
affected by this tragedy. We give thanks to the many thousands
who are working tirelessly to rescue any remaining survivors,
and to begin the process of recovery. They are all true heroes
in the cause of freedom and goodness amongst humanity. It is a
time for us to mourn and to strengthen our resolve to prevail
over the forces of evil, which exist within our world populace.
I
ask that you join me in prayer to God to give us the strength
to carry out this mission.
Joseph
J. Cuneo, President of SNAME

SNAME
and ASME Join Forces to Host First Annual International Offshore
Design Competition for Students
(Houston,
TX---) The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME)

program where students can email company representatives with problems
or questions. The process aims at developing an appreciation for
the offshore design process and encourages interdisciplinary teamwork
and collaborative effort.

from Executive Director of SNAME
Fellow
Members, In the midst of the tragedy of September 11th, the Society's computer
systems were infected by the Win32/Nimda.A.Worm virus as of Tuesday,
September 18th. The effect has been a total shut down of our email
and databases at SNAME Headquarters in Jersey City. New anti-viral
software only became available to us on Thursday, September 20th,
and we have been working around the clock with experts to rid
the servers of this most insidious virus to date. We
hope to be back in full operation by tomorrow, Tuesday, September
25th, but in the meantime our phones are working, so please call
or FAX us at 201-798-4800, (toll free) 800-798-2188, or (FAX)
201-798-4975 to speak to the staff and to register for SNAME's
Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL, October 24-27, 2001. We
understand your concerns, and appreciate your patience in light
of circumstances which are both extremely frustrating to us and
beyond our control. Philip
B. Kimball, Executive Director
