SNAME and ASNE Initiate Strategic Alliance
with Technical and Research Cooperation
SNAME
and ASNE, as unique professional engineering societies that share a number of
common objectives and challenges, have formed a strategic alliance. The alliance
has been approved by both society leadership councils and is now in operation.
In June the Societies agreed to conduct a two-year Technical and Research
trial alliance to evaluate the potential for expanding and strengthening
the existing SNAME T&R Program through a cooperative arrangement with ASNE.

SNAME Publication - IPME
INTRODUCTION
TO
PRACTICAL MARINE ENGINEERING
The
Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers announces the publication
of a new introductory textbook for students of marine engineering. This
is a book intended for use in the classroom and on the floor plates. The
book is published in two volumes, with approximately 170 pages of text
in the first volume, and some 280 pages of illustrations and tables in
the second volume. This format was selected to allow students to examine
the illustrations while reading the text. This edition supersedes the
pre-publication edition of 2002 that was rushed to print to meet immediate
demand. (A limited number of copies of the pre-publication edition are
still available for $50 on a first-come, first-served basis.)
Note:
The book is being published in India by the Institute of Marine Engineers
(India). The Indian publication was made possible through a co-publishing
agreement between the two Societies.
Click
here for chapter headings.
Copies
of the U.S. Version of the book may be purchased through SNAME for $98
for Members. A limited number of the pre-publication edition are also
available at a discounted price.
To
order call Linda Davis at:
201-798-4800 x 3037 or e-mail: ldavis@sname.org.
