Wondering what to read this summer? SNAME is offering two new books through our Publications Catalog.
The first of these is Marine Casualty Response: Salvage Engineering by the American Society of Naval Engineers and Jamestown Marine Services. List: $130.00; Members: $85.00. This book has been assembled to provide the salvage engineer an authoritative and comprehensive reference work comparable to the standard reference works available for other technical disciplines.
The second book is a beautiful hard bound volume entitled Submarines: War Beneath the Waves by Robert Hutchinson, List: $ 60.00; Members: $ 45.00. This Lavishly illustrated encyclopedia begins with the primitive boats of the 18th and 19th centuries, covers the submarines of both World Wars and goes on to the nuclear submarines of today. Acclaimed naval artist Tony Gibbons illustrates every major type of submarine. Data tables bring together information from submarine museums across the world, with sidebars on submarine accidents, weapons technology, sensors, oceanography, rescue missions and many other fascinating aspects of war beneath the waves. To order these or any other book available at member discounts through the SNAME catalog, contact Claudio Pujols via e-mail or call 201-798-4800 X3044.
