SNAME Journals On-Line
Time Flies !
Can you believe it's been
a little over a year since our journals have been online as searchable documents
via Catchword (now merged with Ingenta)? SNAME members have free online access
to Marine Technology as well as those publications that they had elected to
receive. Some of you have been using the service regularly and enjoying the
convenience and flexibility of online service. Some of you may not even be aware
of what you are missing.
Ingenta offers full text
searching, active reference linking, multiple delivery options and the benefit
of being connected to 10,000 other scientific journals through the Catchword/Ingenta
Network. It doesn't stop there though. Our material is also linked to countless
others online sources through subscription agent gateways and abstract and indexing
services. All of these together give you tremendous research capabilities and
the opportunity to delve deeper into any area of interest without even leaving
your seat.
If you have not yet accessed
your subscriptions online you can go to http://www.sname.org/publications_intro.htm
and follow the instructions to witness first hand this added functionality.
Before you begin, please have your SNAME member ID# handy. You will be asked
to enter your ID# and your last name. If you do not recall your SNAME ID#, please
contact the Member Services Department and you're off and running without all
the running around!

LINK-OF-THE-MONTH

This month's
special link is the Philadelphia Section.
I viewed the page and learned that the section was inaugurated in 1941 and holds
the distinction of being the first
local SNAME section. The link to the Section officers has
names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses and photos. There is also a meeting schedule
and a welcoming message from the chair. The person responsible for all this
is Mitchell D. Walker, the Section Chair.
Congratulations
to this month's honoree, the Philadelphia Section.
