access via high speed DSL lines. Several service plans, with multiple
options, are available for both home and office. An
added bonus: this service can be installed over an existing telephone
line, allowing you internet and telephone service simultaneously!
Because high-speed
internet access is expensive, AT&T is prepared to offer
a group rate to SNAME members, resulting in substantial savings
if enough members are interested. If you would like to participate
please contact: Phil Kimball at 201-798-4800 x 3024 or via e-mail:

The
Value of Membership
|
Last
month's newsletter began our exploration of the many benefits
your SNAME membership offers. This month's focus is the T&R
Program, the heart of SNAME.
For
the past 59 years, T&R has fostered and sponsored maritime
research into all areas of ocean sciences and has evolved into
a program which:
*
Involves more than 1,000 individuals from all branches of the
marine and associated industries including government and regulatory
agencies.
* Includes
over eleven committees and over eighty panels and ad hoc groups
with members selected for their knowledge and expertise in a particular
field.
|
* Advances
the participation of young people to join a panel through the
"Under 28" program.
All those who feel qualified to serve and can fund their travel
and expenses by themselves or through their employers are encouraged
to submit an application.
*
Disseminates T&R bulletins, reports, data sheets and symposia
proceedings. This work is often the basis for articles appearing
in the Society's Journals.
*
Establishes the direction of the T&R Program
via the Steering Committee which also establishes research priorities
and assists in funding research projects.
