(Lead Society in cooperation with the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.)

Applicability.

These program criteria apply to engineering programs including "ocean" and similar modifiers in their titles.

Curriculum

  1. Graduates of the program must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to apply the principles of fluid and solid mechanics, dynamics, hydrostatics, probability and applied statistics, oceanography, water waves, and underwater acoustics to engineering applications.

  2. Graduates must demonstrate the ability to design experiments, make measurements, analyze data and prepare reports on physical phenomena related to ocean engineering.

  3. Graduates must demonstrate the ability to work as a group to perform engineering design at the system level, integrating multiple technical areas and addressing design optimization.

Faculty

The program faculty must have sufficient curricular and administrative control to accomplish the program objective.
