Dear Dr. Peterson:

Further to my letter of November 18, 1996, enclosed please find a revised draft of the Program Criteria for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Programs, submitted by The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. This revised criteria was approved by the Society's Education Committee at its meeting on April 3, 1997.

We are posting these criteria on our web site and would appreciate your providing links to these criteria on the ABET site.

Here is the text of the November, 18, 1996 letter:

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers notes that the ABET Board has approved the Engineering Criteria 2000 on second reading and is pleased to add its endorsement and approval to the new criteria.

Attached for the EAC's consideration are the draft program criteria for Ocean Engineering and for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, as approved by our Education Committee at its recent meeting in October. We should point out that the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers are cooperating societies on the Ocean Engineering Criteria. Their approval has not yet been obtained. By copy of this letter, the draft Ocean Engineering Criteria is forwarded for their consideration and approval.

We are posting these criteria on our web site and would appreciate your providing links to these criteria on the ABET site.
