SDS CG Reports to SLF 51 and Questionnaire Results

The following SDS CG reports have been submitted to SLF 51:

Explanatory Notes: To begin this task, the Interim Explanatory Notes (MSC.1/Circ.1226) text was updated to reflect the results from SLF 50. This base document (EN Circular 1) was then circulated to the SDS CG for review and comments. The draft Explanatory Notes were then updated again and this process was repeated twice more using questionnaires to focus on specific issues. These working documents are all available via the links below:

Flooding Detection Systems: To begin this task, draft Guidelines were developed based on the results from SLF 50 to serve as an initial base document (Circular 1). They were then circulated to the SDS CG for review and comments. The draft Guidelines were then updated and the process was repeated. These working documents are all available via the links below:

Updates on the Explanatory Notes and Guidelines for Flooding Detection Systems

            (Note: these items are now all included under the "final" April 11, 2008 entry.)

Initial draft Explanatory Notes were developed by updating the Interim Explanatory Notes (MSC.1/Circ.1226) based on the results from SLF 50. They were then circulated to the SDS CG for review and comments. This process was repeated with EN Circular 2, using a questionnaire format to focus on specific issues. SDS CG Kick-Off in Preparation for SLF 51

Welcome to the SDS CG!   The instructions to the SDS Correspondence Group are as follows:

.1     to develop the final draft text of the Explanatory Notes to the SOLAS chapter II-1 subdivision and damage stability regulations in the form of an MSC circular, taking into account MSC/Circ.1226 and document SLF 50/WP.1;

.2     to develop draft Guidelines for flooding detection systems required by new SOLAS regulation II-1/22-1, taking into account document SLF 50/WP.1;

.3     to consider the list of SOLAS chapter II-1 regulations identified as needing future improvement and make relevant recommendations, taking into account document SLF 50/WP.1; and

.4     to submit a report to SLF 51.

This SDS Working Papers webpage will "grow" over the coming year as information and comments are received from the Group. Our previous work preparing for SLF 50 has been archived and is available at SLF 50 SDS Working Papers (with all its documents and links).
