Safety of Passenger Ships with Large Numbers of PassengersThis panel is the eighth in a series of ad hoc panels formed under the T&R Steering Committee banner. It was first formed in 1999, but after a short burst of interest it went dormant, and was removed to the "completed" category. A new chair accepted the challenge to revitalize the ad hoc panel, in an area that is of high important to SNAME and its members. The forming of this Ad Hoc panel pre-dated the formation by the International Maritime Organization of a Large Passenger Ship initiative - referred to as LPS. To assist this effort, the Society has assembled a team to review the safety aspects of passenger vessels. This panel will explore several safety aspects including damaged stability, lifesaving systems, evacuations, and safety and risk assessments. We invite all members to participate in this panel.
